Contractor due on £55m gasification plant

Waste contractor SITA Surrey is expected to appoint a contractor early 2013 for the construction of the £55 million gasification plant at Charlton Park in Shepperton. The construction will involve a gasification plant to treat 60,000 tonnes of residual household waste; an anaerobic digestion facility to process 40,000 tonnes of food waste; bulking and baling facilities; community recycling centre and reuse centre; visitor and education centre to allow Surrey residents to learn more about reducing, reusing and recycling waste.
